The BMW Diesel Engine

BMW Diesels use Common Rail Diesel Injection technology with state of the art components. A common rail engine runs at pressures up to 2,000 bar (29,400 PSI) and can inject up to 7 times per cycle per cylinder. The fuel is delivered to all injectors by one fuel rail “Common rail” and is electronically controlled for upmost precision of injection timing. The modern common rail diesel engine can inject up to 7 times per cycle and has been the key to current refinement and economy standards.

The BMW 325d and 330d E90-93 chassis from 2009 both run Bosch EDC17 engine management systems and come with 201bhp and 241bhp respectively. Both these variants are mechanically 100% identical including turbo and injectors. The only variance on these is the software inside the management system. Our stage 1 on the 325d takes it to a factory 241bhp or Stage 2 which is our Fast Road. The older 325d and 330d have 100% identical engine blocks but vary only by injector capacity.
